As hindi is world third largely spoken languag in the world but still UN don't recognise it as UN one of the official languages. As we see that languages like spanish, arabic, french which are way less speaker than hindi but still these languages are recognised by UN assembly.
The reason behind is the prcedure of selection of language in UN.
The selection procedure of language in UN is that, how many countries actually speaks that language.
As we see,
1. Arabic is been spoken by atleast 23 countries of middle east and north african countries.
2. Spanish is been spoken by atleast 20 countries include most of the south america.
3. French by more then 25 countries include many african and south east asian countries.
On the other hand Hindi is mainly spoked in middle and northern part of India and some other six countries they are Nepal, Mauritius, Fiji, Trinidad and Tabago, etc. except Nepal all other countries are exceptionally small or either way less speakers.
The other reason behind is that in india there are 23 official languages which mainly include Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi, Urdu, Malyalam, Asamese, Kannada, etc. And almost 60% of peoples are non Hindi speakers in India. Hence it is not seems good that all the oficials of india at UN are enforced to speak Hindi.
